I recently had the pleasure of taking Japanese lessons with Shige San, and I can confidently say he is an outstanding language teacher. From the very first class, his patient and kind demeanor put me at ease, creating a relaxed environment that fosters learning.
One of the best aspects of his teaching style is his focus on conversation. He encourages students to speak freely, correcting mistakes gently and providing constructive feedback. This approach has significantly boosted my confidence in speaking Japanese.
Additionally, Shige San often incorporates cultural insights into his lessons, enriching the learning experience and making it more relevant. Whether discussing Japanese traditions or current events, his passion for the language shines through.
Overall, I highly recommend Shige San to anyone looking to learn Japanese. His patience, kindness, and engaging teaching methods create a supportive atmosphere that truly enhances the learning experience.

Today, I wasn’t feeling well, so I wasn’t as focused in class as usual. However, Asako-san was still very patient with me. Since I’m not yet familiar with the use of hiragana and katakana, she kindly wrote the romaji (Romanized characters) next to each one to help me learn. Today, we practiced katakana by learning words related to nationalities and languages. Asako-san also explained when to use hiragana and when to use katakana, which gave me a clearer understanding of the differences between them.
After class, I looked online for some tools to help me practice hiragana and katakana and found an app called “Maru Japanese Kana.” It provides explanations, pronunciations, and quizzes for each kana, which I hope will help me solidify what I’ve learned. I’m looking forward to being more comfortable with Japanese in my next lesson!

Yuka is a great teacher for nervous beginner students of Japanese. She speaks perfect English, has traveled several times to America, and knows how to work with American personalities. I am happy with her encouragement and teaching style. For example, she finds a sound from a previous word I have learned to help me pronounce a new word. I am grateful for her support in learning Japanese.

I had an amazing experience learning Japanese! Reito sensei was excellent, designing the class based on my personal needs and starting from the very basics. He was very attentive, answering all my questions and clarifying any doubts I had about the language. The learning materials were engaging, and the classroom atmosphere was fun and stress-free. We had plenty of opportunities to practice speaking and conversation, which made the class both enjoyable and valuable. It was a class full of great and priceless experiences!"

Aki-sensei was very attentive and patient in teaching me, a beginner in Japanese conversation.
She taught me conversational expressions that I often use in my daily life in Japan and phrases that are useful when I have trouble with sightseeing, which made me want to use them right away. I would like to repeat the lesson again.

If you don't have time to find a tutor or aren't sure where to start, we can help with recommendations. Try using our tutor recommendation tool here, which will provide you with tutor matches according to your selected needs.
Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a tutor who is a native speaker?
One of the best ways to learn is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only .
However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.
If you have a good range of vocabulary but lack the opportunity to practice, then we recommend you choose a native tutor.

Q8. How many lessons should I purchase?
If you have a short term goal, we recommend you purchase enough lessons that you can take classes consistently within your timeframe. If you need significant improvement to reach your goal, we recommend you an adequate number of lessons, and get into the habit of regular weekly learning! The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
