Would you like to feel more confident when using English?
Is your fluency and grammar in need of improvement?
Have you got a ‘gap’ in your vocabulary and would like to express yourself more easily?
Learn speaking and active listening in a relaxed setting.
Are native English accents difficult for you to understand? We create engaging learning material by utilising Ted Talks, news articles and your personal interests.
There might be one, or a number of reasons that brought you here. Maybe you’re a professional, using business English with your colleagues and clients. You could be preparing for an exam. You’re going to give a presentation and need to make sure you’re confident when speaking. Perhaps it may just be that you can’t express yourself clearly when using day-to-day English. It might seem like you can’t improve your level, no matter how hard you try. We will help you. If you feel like English is holding you back from achieving your goals, Confident Conversations will help you break the blockage and refine your English.
# 1: Minimum Interruption – Valuable Corrections
I will not correct you every time you make a mistake. Continuous corrections do not help you learn English. It is impossible for you to learn from every correction and you will lose confidence. Instead, I will pause the conversation from time to time and point out areas you should improve (i.e. sounds you have trouble pronouncing, grammar mistakes, better vocabulary). This approach will maximize the time you practice speaking and also give you some homework projects if required or asked for by the student.
#2: Student Speaks Most of the Time
If you just listen to the teacher and take notes, you will not improve speaking. You need to actively speak during the class. We will make sure the student speaks most of the time during the lesson. The teacher will ask a lot of questions and lead the conversation in a way the student speaks 80% of the time.
#3: Real Conversations
In your first lesson, we will discuss what topics you would like to talk about. Whether you want to focus on TOEFL/IELTS Speaking topics or job-related topics we can help. Examples for conversation topics – politics, literature, technology, sports, careers, culture, travel, health, Hollywood, the stock market, global warming, TED Talks, cooking etc
I am a professionally trained actor, so using these skills I can work with you on accent reduction whilst exploring different English accents and dialects.
